Structure

What it means
The object ends up somewhere, or turns into something, as a result of the action.
How it is built
Subject + 把 + object + verb + 在／到／成／给 + result: 很多人把收入的一半花在了房租上 (Many people spend half their income on rent).
When to use it
With 在, 到 (a place) or 成, 把 is compulsory: there is no room left for the object after the verb. 给 is looser: 把书送给他 and 送给他一本书 are both fine.
Watch out
✗ 花一半收入在房租上 ✓ 把一半收入花在房租上. Likewise ✗ 翻译这句话成英文 ✓ 把这句话翻译成英文.
